Dearly Beloved;
The Scriptures said. “The Heavens declare
the glory of God: and the firmament showeth his handiwork” Ps.19:1
To the people of Ghana, the Lord demonstrated
his powers to us when he allowed us to witness the FULL Eclipse
of the SUN on March 29th between 8:10am to 9:13am. Day turned
to night and stars appeared. Some birds went to bed, Bats started
to fly to search for food, a real wonder to behold. The birds
had to wake up after the two and half to three minutes, the
bats had to return to sleep.
Unbelievers and skeptics had to exclaimed,”
THERE IS GOD “ To God be the Glory.
Mission Team Fromthe USA:
The second Mission team from the USA arrived
on the17th of March, led by Pastor Erskine Dodson of
Trinity Baptist Church, Indianapolis, Indiana. He is also a
lecturer at Cross Road Bible College, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Pastor Dodson preached in two churches on Sunday - Bible
Baptist Church and Door Of Faith Baptist Church. He
also spoke during this year's Annual Pastoral School, at
the high school chapel, and gave two radio messages.
On March 22nd another group of five arrived,
led by Dr. Allen Macfarland of Evangelical Baptist Church,
Virginia, Chancellor of Bible College and president of the Fundamental
Baptist Fellowship Association. In the group was Pastor Lavender
Of Grace Baptist Church, Kansas, Pastor Bradley of True Bible
Baptist Church, Ankara, Iowa. On arrival in Accra they joined
pastor Dodson and the Gainers on another mission to the
Volta Region of Ghana where ABWE has started a church
planting ministry.
Pastor Dodson’s group continued to Nigeria
with Bro. Okoro, but Dr. Macfarland’s group came back to Accra
on the 28th to fellowship with us and meet with some of the
pastors in our fellowship.
Pastor Lavender and Dr. Macfarland
also preached messages to our radio audience.Dr. Macfarland,
pastor Lavender and pastor Jackleft Ghana on the 1st of April.
The last of the group to leave was pastor
Bradly. He visited some historic sites and our school before
leaving on the 7th. Of April.
House of Hope Team:
Last Year a brother in the Lord
called me while we were in Ohio and shared with me about an
orphanage his mother–in-law has started in Ghana. He told me
he would like our church to oversee the ministry.
Bro. Isakov sent me an email saying that
he and his mother–in-law will arrive in Ghana on the 7th of
April. So when I took Pastor Bradley to the Airport, I brought
Bro. Isakov and his mother-in-law, Sis. Beth, to our home. We
had a discussion on how to run the orphanage since they are
in the STATE.
They worshiped with us on Sunday and shared
with our people the vision for the Orphanage.
One of our young ladies offered to serve
as one of the mothers. They had another lady in the town where
the orphanage is to be one of the mothers.
There are 20 children at present
to be taken to the home. A house has been built - what is
needed is light. Most of the children are orphans but a few
are street children. Be in prayer for the House of hope.
The School Building Project:
We are still working on the building.
It became very obvious that we must have ceiling fans to be
able to use the building. The rooms were very hot during the
pastoral new year school, and also during our Easter Bible Conference
from April 15-17th.
We will need 24 ceiling fans at the cost
of $45 each or $1080.
Pray with us for funds for plumbing, outside
plastering and painting, for toilet seats, (A total of
8 toilet seats) septic tank and 100 bags of cement for outside
plastering. $5000 will do, and then we will start with the
block work for the next floor. Please, the Coin Cards are
needed.
Annual Pastoral School and Northern Ghana
Ministry:
This year's Annual Pastoral School was
held from the 20th to the 24th of March. We had 15 participants
from the churches in Northern and Southern Ghana. Some of the
topics were What is Baptism, Basic Christianity, Discipleship,
etc.
Pastor Dodson from Trinity Baptist Church,
Indianapolis, IN. handled the Discipleship.
The brethren kept on telling us this school
should be semi-annual. Pray with us.
Dodge Van:
Pray with us - we have changed
the engine in our Dodge Van. Now we need a carburetor and a
good fuel pump to bring the van to good working condition.
Eventually we have to get a New Bus for this outreach ministry.
Namu Church Roof Destroyed:
A very strong rain storm went through
the Salaga district of the Northern Region in the first week
of March destroying many buildings. The Namu church was affected
by the storm. The roof we put on last year was destroyed. The
brethren are now meeting temporally in a nearby school.
We need $1500 to re-roof the church. Pray
for the Lord to provide the need.
Our Goal this year is to pray for the
Lord to provide $5000 to build each church in the North.
We are planning to go to the north again
some time this year, be in prayer with us.
Clinic Still Needs a Nurse:
Please be in prayer with us in this area.
The Quarshie Family:
On the 25th of March we lost a cousin
who worked with the Ghana Electoral Commission.
Then on the 2nd of April my Sister also
went home to be with the Lord. We were five boys. She was the
only girl among us. She was 51. She left behind a daughter and
four grand children, three girls and one boy. Because her husband
died some years ago, all the burden was on me. Please bear us
in prayer.
Be in prayer also for Debbie and
Enoch, for the Lord to provide for their education, Enoch is
expected in Moody this August, He will be studying Mission/Communication
or Aviation.
We need $6000 for Enoch’s fee and air
passage.
