NOVEMBER 17, 2001: ADVENTURES IN AFRICA

This is a report on the donation we made last February to ex-service men in Ghana. The presentation was made to the Legion Village in Accra on Friday, the 15th of February. It was contained in the 20 Hours GMT or 8pm home news bulletin on Radio Ghana NEWS on February 16th. It was also aired in the Uniiq Fm's NEWS in BRIEF AT 21 HOURS or 9pm on February 17th. Below is the full report by the Ghana Broadcasting Reporter.

The Care-taker of Accra Legion Village, Awuni Kanji, has appealed to NGOs and other Philantropists to help improve the physical infrastructure at the village. He said most electrical fittings, windows and doors of the buildings are in a state of disrepair. He said such a situation does not befit them in view of their sacrifices in the country's independence struggle.

Mr. Kanja made the appeal when Shalom Indigenous Foundation, a local Baptist Mission NGO, with support from Grace Baptist Mission-Ghana, based in the US, donated five million cedis worth of used clothing and food items to the Village.

He expressed the Village's gratitude for the donation and hoped others would respond positively to their plight. The President of the Shalom Indigenous Foundation, the Rev. Noah Quarshie, said as a Christian mission, it is not only concerned about the spiritual development of the people, but also providing their physical needs.
